Titulo Bilinguismo fronteiriço e o code-switching no espaço escolar: aquisição/aprendizagem do português brasileiro (PB) por crianças venezuelanas
Orientador(a) Alessandra Del Re
Data 29/04/2020

Abstract: This research deals with the process of acquisition of Brazilian Portuguese (BP) as L2, in a Brazilian early childhood education school institution, on the Brazil-Venezuela border, in the roraimense municipality of Pacaraima, a twin city with Santa Elena de Uairén. Its theoretical basis is the dialogical-discursive perspective of Bakhtinian studies, which considers the utterances produced in relationship with the other, with other discourses, based on a notion of language as a living organism, endowed with ideological meanings, which evolves and constitutes itself historical and socially (BAKHTIN/ VOLOCHÍNOV, 2014; DEL RÉ et al., 2014 a e b). It was added to this theoretical background are reflections on linguistic contact and phenomena arising from it, such as (multi) bilingualism (notions of bilingual subject), the influences of one language (LM) over another (L2), and the code-switching, based on Butler and Hakuta (2004), Baker (2001), Hamers and Blanc (2000), among others, in addition to research on acquisition and bilingualism by GEALin-FCLAr and NALingua-CNPq, which discuss theoretical-methodological issues on language acquisition/learning. It is a qualitative and naturalistic study, whose corpus is longitudinal, constituted of oral productions of 3 (three) Venezuelan children, 4 years old, who interacted with each other, with a Brazilian child and the teacher, and were collected in 18 sessions, lasting between 35 to 50 minutes, filmed in the classroom. These data were transcribed in agreement norms of the CHAT, or the CLAN program (MACWHINNEY, 2000) and analyzed according to categories elaborated after observation of the filmings. Is was objectified to analyze the acquisition of the L2 in this context, observing the changes that occurred in this process; what would be the linguistic and contextual factors to the language that could interfere in the acquisition of PB; in addition to discussing the crosslinguistic influence, at what linguistic levels would predominate and, mainly, to understand the functioning of the code-switching (CS) in verbal interactions. We found the, despite the fact that BP is the predominant language of communication in the daycare center, the Spanish takes on importance in interactions, that is, the children switch codes, being motivated by nature of bordering environment and, in specific discursive events of the school sphere, such as discursive genres as tales and children’s music; the CS also manifested itself distinctly according to certain types of interaction, such as the “correction” of language uses and questions and answers, in these, motivated mainly by factors external to the language, such as acquired concrete experiences in the LM, that is, specific to the family sphere.
